FAQ - Carillon
When did Deagan build
the tubular bell instruments?
How many were built? How many
still exist?
Do you offer repair parts? Even if you don't
repair the instruments?
Do you provide technical information?
Do you provide drawings?
Our
maintenance person/electrician does the basic maintenance
on the carillon, but we recently ended up with a striker
that is in need of rebuilding. Can we remove it ourselves
and ship it to you for repair? To save time, can we exchange
our old one with another rebuilt unit?
What if we need service,
can we arrange for a technician to perform an on-site service
call?
Do you repair other types of carillons?
When did Deagan
build the tubular bell instruments?
Between 1916 and 1958.
How many were built? How many still exist?
Approximately 440 of these instruments were
built. Today it is presumed that less than 100 of these
instruments are in operational condition.
Do you offer repair parts?
Even if you don't repair
the instruments?
Yes. On our website, we offer a listing
of repair parts that we normally stock. We are
continuously adding additional repair parts to our
inventory. We even offer some uncommon repair parts
that are not listed, which people should inquire about.
It is our goal to see as many of these instruments
work as possible, and our firm is committed to assisting
where we can. Even if we do not repair the instrument,
we are happy to provide individuals or institutions
with repair parts.
Do you provide technical information? Do you provide
drawings?
Yes. We can provide both drawings and technical
information. It is our goal to eventually re-draw all
of the technical and installation drawings, and provide
these to those interested. We are currently working
on new service and repair manuals that we will make
available in the future. We can also provide advice
to an owner with regards to any problems. What we would
need is as much information as possible (photos are
a great assistance), and a description of the problem(s).

in need of rebuilding. Can we remove it ourselves and ship it to you for repair?
To save time, can we exchange our old one with another rebuilt unit?
Yes to both! In fact we generally prefer to
send a rebuilt unit to an owner, with removal and installation
instructions. When the new units have been exchanged
the old unit is shipped back to Williamson-Warne & Associates,
where it is disassembled, and inspected. Then the owner
is charged for the labour to rebuild the unit plus
any parts that are burned up, worn, damaged or missing.
What if we need service, can we arrange for a technician
to perform an on-site service call?
Yes. Costs will depend on the problem(s), distance, and urgency of the problem.
Please feel free to contact us for assistance.
Do you repair other types of carillons?
On occasion we have been asked to make repairs to
both other electric action bell systems, as well as mechanical
systems. Please inquire as to your specific needs.
